“It’s lonely at the top”
Sometimes owning a business can feel like having 37 browser tabs open (or was that 437 lol??) - and not a single one is loading.
And the worst part? There’s no one to talk to who really gets it.
I’ve been having lots of patio sangria get-togethers with fellow business owners this summer, and every single entrepreneur has talked about some version of:
“It’s lonely at the top.”
I understand. When you’re the boss and you don’t have a full leadership team, there’s no one for you to talk to about:
How to keep a key employee - without giving up ownership of your business,
Those open-a-second-location dreams, or
What to do with that extra $80k sitting in your business’ chequing acct,
Maybe it’s similar to billionaires trying to find a therapist who will empathize with their problems. I don’t know. I believe the kids call it “first-world problems”...?
Either way, you’ve kind of ‘made it’ and your problems are different than they were when you first hung up your shingle.
You’ve done the work to build a financially healthy business.
You get a multiple 6-figure dividend each year.
You’re able to travel and enjoy a certain level of freedom that you never thought possible.
Your life looks pretty cozy from the outside, but sometimes…. being the boss still feels kinda lonely.
And lonely leads to things like:
Giving up wayyy too much to keep a key employee because you can’t imagine your biz without her,
Not moving forward with your expansion plans because there’s no one to hold you accountable or help you map out a plan to make this dream a reality, or
Sitting on that extra cash for a year so it earns $800 in interest instead of the $16,000 ROI it could create if you invested it properly in your business,
These are real consequences, involving real people that ultimately have a big impact on your bottom line.
And not having space to have these convos with someone who will map out an actionable plan and hold you accountable to that plan could be the thing that keeps you from achieving your goals.
Because, if I know anything about you, you don’t really need motivation.
You’ve done big, hard things before.
But what you do need is a bit of sounding board,
some solid advice from people who have seen the inside of countless small businesses / NPOs, and
a clearly laid out plan.
So what’s the fix when you’re at the top but don’t have a leadership team to gut-check ideas, sort out tough people issues, or help you act on the smart stuff you already know you need to do?
That’s where The Monthly Reset comes in.
A monthly 1:1 strategy session for owners, executive directors, and founders who want expert-level consulting support that gets you results.
This isn’t coaching.
This is practical, focused problem-solving with two senior consultants - a former VP of Ops and a CPA - in your corner each month, helping you cut through the noise and act like the leader your business really needs.
You bring the things swirling around in your head - we help you sort it all out and write down a clear path forward so you actually achieve your goals.
Each month, you get:
One 75min strategy session with me and Elanne (Zoom or IRL)
Aka you’ll have your very own fractional leadership team that helps you act strategically and stay on track with your big goals
Written summary and action steps delivered after each session to support accountability and follow through
Each strategy session will have a custom theme based on what’s going on in your business, but here are some options:
“I’m overwhelmed and want to get out of ‘worker bee’ mode and put on my CEO-hat more regularly so I’m not just acting like a really good operations manager”
“I want to launch a new service, but I’m stuck in analysis paralysis - is it profitable? Is there a market? How will it affect my existing biz?”
“I have a pretty big team, but it still seems like no one seems to know ‘who does what’. Where do I start?”
“I have big goals, but I also have shiny object syndrome haha.. How can I stay focused and actually achieve my goals??”
So, if you’re the boss and you’re tired of feeling like it’s lonely at the top, it’s time to try something new.
Because the last thing you want is another 3, 6, or 12 months to go by where you keep thinking about the same problems in the same way - meaning you’ve made zero progress on the goals you set for your business for 2025/2026.
Friend: you know that your biz is good.
But it could be great with a few focused convos and just the right kind of accountability.
I'm offering an intro price of $600/mo + GST for the first two clients who enrol (minimum 3-month commitment).

And hey - if you’re going to spiral about business decisions, at least do it with a CPA and a former VP of Ops who come armed with calculators and snacky foods ;)
