Not your ‘tax season’ CPA

“Tanya - I know who you are, but I don’t know what you do….”

I feel like I get that a lot.

Even during my 10+ years as a ‘normal’ CPA, people would often wonder what I did outside of the months of April (personal taxes) and June (lots of corporate tax work).

And now, in my life as a management consultant, it’s even more grey..

So, let’s de-mystify that.

Because even though technically no one asked for this, I'm still excited to share haha.

Here's some of the problems my team and I have been working on lately:

  • The owners were always in ‘reactive’ mode. They were reviewing financials once a quarter (or… once a year 😬) and had no real-time insight into how their team or various lines of biz were performing. We designed a custom scorecard so they could stop making decisions based on gut feel alone.

  • The company was making over $1.6M in annual revenue — but it's owners were barely scraping by. In an industry where 24% margins were the norm, this client's margins were razor-thin at 3%. We created a custom Financial Bootcamp intensive to identify the leaks, realign pricing, and reset their financial strategy.

  • Another business was at a growth crossroads. Should they double down on people or invest in leasehold improvements / completely restructure leadership? We modelled out the financial and operational impact of both paths so this owner could get out of ‘freeze response’ and choose with confidence.

  • One CEO couldn’t tell which service lines in their business were actually profitable and which weren't. Everything blended together on their P&L statement. We created a segmented income statement so they could finally see what made the most financial sense to focus their marketing dollars on.

  • A firm needed to fill a key role that felt impossible. Hyper-specific skillset. Limited market. Previously posted and failed to bring in anyone suitable. We managed full-cycle recruitment and actually placed the right person - a true unicorn hire in a very hot job market.

  • Another client was running their team on a pre-2020 org chart. Their structure didn’t reflect how AI and automation had majorly impacted workflows. We helped them rebuild it from scratch so they could scale for today (not yesterday).

  • A leadership team had a big vision - but no plan. We created a work plan that turned that pie-in-the-sky strategic goal into a list of clear, doable action steps with timelines and ownership.

If any of these feel close to home, friend — good! They should!

Because this is the real, behind-the-scenes work of building a business that’s financially sustainable, operationally solid, and ready for the next stage of growth.

So if you’ve ever caught yourself wondering,

“Wait… what does Tanya actually do?”

This is it.

This is the work.

The custom, behind-the-scenes, roll-up-our-sleeves kind of support that helps businesses stop treading water and start moving forward - strategically, profitably, and with a whole lot more confidence.

And it’s exactly the kind of custom management consulting support we provide to our clients every single day.

So, whether your business is struggling with one (or all) of the above, we’d love to help.
